حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَأَبِى سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُمَا حَدَّثَاهُ:‏‏‏‏ أنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ يَقُولُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا يُدْخِلْ يَدَهُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ حَتَّى يُفْرِغَ عَلَيْهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَا يَدْرِي فِيمَ بَاتَتْ يَدُهُ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب کوئی شخص رات کو سو کر بیدار ہو تو اپنا ہاتھ برتن میں نہ ڈالے، جب تک کہ دو یا تین مرتبہ اس پہ پانی نہ بہا لے کیونکہ وہ نہیں جانتا کہ رات میں اس کا ہاتھ کہاں کہاں رہا ۱؎۔

Sa'eed bin Musayyab and Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman narrated that : Abu Hurairah used to say: The Messenger of Allah said: 'When anyone of you wakes up from sleep, he should not put his hand into the vessel until he has poured water on it two or three times, for none of you knows where his hand spent the night,'

Abdullah bin Muhammed bin 'Aqil bin Abu Talib narrated from his father that his grandfather said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'A Mudd is sufficient for the ablution and a Sa' is sufficient for the bath.' A man said: 'It is not sufficient for us.' He (the narrator) said: It was sufficient for one who is better than you and had more hair meaning the Prophet.
