حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى أَبُو الْمُحَيَّاةِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَخِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَيْسَ اسْمِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَامٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَسَمَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَامٍ .

عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جب میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا تو میرا نام اس وقت عبداللہ بن سلام نہ تھا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہی میرا نام عبداللہ بن سلام رکھا۔

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Salam said: I came to the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ), and my name was not Abdullah bin Salam. The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) named me Abdullah bin Salam.
