أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قال: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قال: حَدَّثَنِيعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ، قال: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا وَيُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ يُطَوِّلُ الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ الثَّانِيَةَ .
ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہم پر ظہر کی پہلی دو رکعتوں میں قرآت کرتے، اور کبھی کبھار آپ ہمیں ایک آدھ آیت سنا دیتے، پہلی رکعت میں لمبی قرآت کرتے اور دوسری رکعت میں اس سے کم، اور فجر میں بھی ایسے ہی کرتے تھے پہلی میں لمبی قرآت کرتے اور دوسری میں اس سے کم کرتے، اور عصر میں بھی پہلی دونوں رکعتوں میں ہم پر قرآت کرتے، پہلی میں لمبی کرتے اور دوسری میں اس سے کم۔
Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah narrated that: His father told him: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite for us in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr prayer, and he would make us hear a verse sometimes. He would make the first rak'ah longer and the second shorter. And he used to do that in Subh too, make the first rak'ah longer and the second shorter. And he used to recite in the first two rak'ahs of 'Asr prayer, making the first rak'ah longer and the second shorter.
It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he said the opening Takbir of the prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. When he said the Takbir before bowing he did likewise, and when he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' he did likewise, then he said: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).' But he did not do that when he prostrated or when he raised his head from prostration.
