أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْغَيْلَانِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قُلْتُ: أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي ؟، قَالَ: إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ فَسَمَّيْتَ فَكُلْ، وَإِنْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ، فَإِنَّمَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ، وَإِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ فَوَجَدْتَ مَعَهُ غَيْرَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ، فَإِنَّكَ إِنَّمَا سَمَّيْتَ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ، وَلَمْ تُسَمِّ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ .
عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: میں اپنا کتا چھوڑتا ہوں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”جب تم اپنا کتا چھوڑو اور اس پر «بسم اللہ» پڑھ لو تو اسے ( شکار کو ) کھاؤ اور اگر اس نے اس ( شکار ) میں سے کچھ کھایا ہو تو تم اسے نہ کھاؤ، اس لیے کہ اسے اس کتے نے اپنے لیے شکار کیا ہے، اور جب تم اپنے کتے کو چھوڑو پھر اس کے ساتھ اس کے علاوہ ( کوئی کتا ) پاؤ تو اس شکار کو مت کھاؤ، اس لیے کہ تم نے «بسم اللہ» صرف اپنے کتے پر پڑھی ہے، دوسرے پر نہیں۔
It was narrated that 'Adiyy bin Hatim said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'I release my dog. He said: 'If you release your dog and mention the name of Allah, then eat. But it he has eaten some of it, the do not eats, for the caught it for himself. If you release your dog then you find another dog with it, then do not eat, for you said the name of Allah over your dog, and not over any other.
