حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَأَى حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ تُبَاعُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، لَوِ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذِهِ فَلَبِسْتَهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلِلْوَفْدِ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَيْكَ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ، فَأَعْطَى عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْهَا حُلَّةً، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَسَوْتَنِيهَا وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِي حُلَّةِ عُطَارِدٍ مَا قُلْتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا لِتَلْبَسَهَا، فَكَسَاهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَخًا لَهُ مُشْرِكًا بِمَكَّةَ .
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے مسجد کے دروازے کے پاس ایک دھاری دار ریشمی جوڑا بکتا ہوا دیکھا تو عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر آپ اس کو خرید لیتے اور جمعہ کے روز اور وفود سے ملاقات کے وقت اسے زیب تن فرماتے ( تو اچھا ہوتا ) ، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے وہی پہنے گا جس کا آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں پھر انہیں میں سے کچھ جوڑے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے آپ نے اس میں سے ایک جوڑا عمر بن خطاب کو دیا، تو عمر کہنے لگے: اللہ کے رسول! یہ آپ مجھے پہنا رہے ہیں حالانکہ آپ عطارد کے جوڑوں کے سلسلہ میں ایسا ایسا فرما چکے ہیں؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میں نے تمہیں اس لیے نہیں دیا ہے کہ اسے تم ( خود ) پہنو تو عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے اپنے ایک مشرک بھائی ( عثمان بن حکیم ) کو دے دیا۔
Narrated Abd Allaah bin Umar: Umar bin al-Khattab saw that a striped robe containing silk was being sold at the the gate of the mosque. He said: Messenger of Allah, would that you purchased it and wore it on Friday and when a delegation came to you. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: Only he who has no portion in the next world wears this (silk). Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came in possession of some robes made of silk and gave one of them to Umar bin al-Khattab. Umar sai: Messenger of Allah, you are clothing me with it, but you said about the robe of 'Utarid what you said. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: I did not give it to you so that you may wear it. So Umar al-Khattab gave it to his brother who was a polytheist in Makkah to wear it.
Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم put on a new garment he mentioned it by name, turban or shirt, and would then say: O Allah, praise be to Thee! as Thou hast clothed me with it, I ask Thee for its good and the good of that for which it was made, and I seek refuge in Thee from its evil and the evil of that for which it was made. Abu Nadrah said: When any of the Companions of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم put on a new garment, he was told: May you wear it out and may Allah give you another in its place.

He said: Whom do you think to be more deserving for it ? The people kept silence. He said: Bring Umm Khalid. The she was carried to him and he put it on her, saying: Wear it out and make it ragged twice. Then he went on looking at red or yellow marks on it, and said: This is sanah, sanah, Umm Khalid. It means beautiful in the language of the Abyssinians.
