حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّكَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ تَقَاضَى ابْنَ أَبِي حَدْرَدٍ دَيْنًا كَانَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمَا، حَتَّى سَمِعَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِهِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى كَشَفَ سِجْفَ حُجْرَتِهِ، وَنَادَى كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا كَعْبُ، فَقَالَ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَأَشَارَ لَه بِيَدِهِ أَنْ ضَعِ الشَّطْرَ مِنْ دَيْنِكَ، قَالَ كَعْبٌ: قَدْ فَعَلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: قُمْ فَاقْضِهِ .
کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے عہد میں ابن ابی حدرد سے اپنے اس قرض کا جو ان کے ذمہ تھا مسجد کے اندر تقاضا کیا تو ان دونوں کی آوازیں بلند ہوئیں یہاں تک کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے سنا آپ اپنے گھر میں تھے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان دونوں کی طرف نکلے یہاں تک کہ اپنے کمرے کا پردہ اٹھا دیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کو پکارا اور کہا: اے کعب! تو انہوں نے کہا: حاضر ہوں، اللہ کے رسول! پھر آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ کے اشارے سے فرمایا کہ آدھا قرضہ معاف کر دو، کعب نے کہا: میں نے معاف کر دیا اللہ کے رسول! تب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( ابن حدرد ) سے فرمایا: اٹھو اور اسے ادا کرو ۔
Kab bin Malik said that in the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم he made demand in the mosque for payment of a debt due to him from Ibn Abi Hadrad, and their voices rose till the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, who was in his house, heard them. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم then went out to them and, removing the curtain of his apartment, he called to Kab bin Malik, addressing: Kab! He said: At your service, Messenger of Allah. Thereupon he made a gesture with is hand indicating: Remit half the debt due to you. Kab said: I shall do so, Messenger of Allah. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم then said: Get up and discharge
Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: He who has been appointed a judge has been killed without a knife.

The one who will go to Paradise is a man who knows what is right and gives judgment accordingly; but a man who knows what is right and acts tyrannically in his judgment will go to Hell; and a man who gives judgment for people when he is ignorant will go to Hell. Abu Dawud said: On this subject this is the soundest tradition, that is, the tradition of Ibn Buraidah: Judges are of three types.
