حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا عُمَرُ وَنَحْنُ بِأَذْرَبِيجَانَ يَا عُتْبَةُ بْنَ فَرْقَدٍ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ كَدِّكَ وَلَا مِنْ كَدِّ أَبِيكَ وَلَا مِنْ كَدِّ أُمِّكَ فَأَشْبِعْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ مِمَّا تَشْبَعُ مِنْهُ فِي رَحْلِكَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّنَعُّمَ وَزِيَّ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ وَلَبُوسَ الْحَرِيرَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لَبُوسِ الْحَرِيرِ قَالَ إِلَّا هَكَذَا وَرَفَعَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ الْوُسْطَى وَالسَّبَّابَةَ وَضَمَّهُمَا قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ عَاصِمٌ هَذَا فِي الْكِتَابِ قَالَ وَرَفَعَ زُهَيْرٌ إِصْبَعَيْهِ
احمد بن عبداللہ بن یونس نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : ہمیں زہیر نے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : ہمیں عاصم احول نے ابوعثمان سے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : جب ہم آذربائیجان میں تھے تو حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ہماری طرف ( خط میں ) لکھ بھیجا : عتبہ بن فرقد!تمھارے پاس جو مال ہے وہ نہ تمھاری کمائی سے ہے ، نہ تمھارے ماں باپ کی کمائی سے ، مسلمانوں کو ان کی رہائش گاہوں میں وہی کھانا پیٹ بھرکے کھلاؤ جس سے اپنی رہائش گاہ میں تم خود پیٹ بھرتے ہو اور تم لوگ عیش وعشرت سے مشرکین کے لباس اور ریشم کے پہناؤوں سے دور رہنا ، کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ریشم کے پہناوے سے منع فرمایا ہے ، مگر اتنا ( جائز ہے ) ، ( یہ فرما کر ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی دو انگلیاں ، درمیانی انگلی اورانگشت شہادت ملائیں اورانھیں ہمارے سامنے بلند فرمایا ۔ زہیر نے کہا : عاصم نے کہا : یہ اس خط میں ہے ، ( ابن یونس نے ) کہا : اور زہیر نے ( بھی ) اپنی دو انگیاں اٹھائیں ۔
Asim al-Abwal reported on the authority Abu Uthman saying: 'Umar wrote to us when we were in Adharba'ijan saying: 'Utba b. Farqad, this wealth is neither the result of your own labour nor the result of the labour of your father, nor the result of the labour of your mother, so feed Muslims at their own places as you feed (members of your family and yourselves at your own residence), and beware of the life of pleasure, and the dress of the polytheists and wearing of silk garments, for Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) forbade the wearing of silk garments, but only this much, and Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) raised his. forefinger and middle finger and he joined. them (to indicate that only this much silk can be allowed in the dress of a man). 'Asim said also: This is what is recorded in the lette., (sent to us), and Zuhair raised his two fingers (to give an idea of the extent to which silk may be used).
Umm Salama, the wife of Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), said: He who drinks in the vessel of silver in fact drinks down in his belly the fire of Hell.

He commanded us to visit the sick, to follow the funeral procession, to answer the sneezer, to fulfil the vow, to help the poor, to accept the invitation and to greet everybody, and he forbade us to wear rings or gold rings, to drink in silver (vessels), and to use the saddle cloth made of red silk, and to wear garments made of Qassi material, or garments made of silk or brocade and velvet.
