حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَالْأُتْرُجَّةِ طَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَرِيحُهَا طَيِّبٌ ، وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ كَالتَّمْرَةِ طَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَلَا رِيحَ لَهَا ، وَمَثَلُ الْفَاجِرِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَثَلِ الرَّيْحَانَةِ رِيحُهَا طَيِّبٌ وَطَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ ، وَمَثَلُ الْفَاجِرِ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَثَلِ الْحَنْظَلَةِ طَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ وَلَا رِيحَ لَهَا .
ہم سے ہدبہ بن خالد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ہمام نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے قتادہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے اور ان سے ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”اس مومن کی مثال جو قرآن پڑھتا ہے ترنج کی سی ہے کہ اس کا مزہ بھی اچھا اور اس کی خوشبو بھی عمدہ ہے اور وہ مومن جو نہیں پڑھتا کھجور کی طرح ہے کہ اس کا مزہ تو اچھا ہے لیکن اس میں خوشبو نہیں اور اس فاسق کی مثال جو قرآن پڑھتا ہے مردہ کی طرح ہے کہ اس کی خوشبو تو اچھی ہے لیکن اس کا مزہ کڑوا ہے اور جو فاسق قرآن نہیں پڑھتا اس کی مثال اندرائن کی سی ہے کہ اس کا مزہ بھی کڑوا ہے اور کوئی خوشبو بھی نہیں۔“
Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet said, 'The example of a believer who recites the Qur'an is that of a citron (a citrus fruit) which is good in taste and good in smell. And the believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which has a good taste but no smell. And the example of an impious person who recites the Qur'an is that of Ar-Rihana (an aromatic plant) which smells good but is bitter in taste. And the example of an impious person who does not recite the Qur'an is that of a colocynth which is bitter in taste and has no smell.
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When the Prophet sent Mu`adh to Yemen, he said to him, You are going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauhid of Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night. And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor. And if they agree to that, then take from them Zakat but avoid the best property of the people.

The Prophet said, Not to punish them (if they do so).
Read CompleteNarrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers): 'Say (O Muhammad): He is Allah, the One. (112.1) And he recited it repeatedly. When it was morning, he went to the Prophet and informed him about that as if he considered that the recitation of that Sura by itself was not enough. Allah's Apostle said, By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Qur'an.

' (112.1) When they returned (from the battle), they mentioned that to the Prophet. He said (to them), Ask him why he does so. They asked him and he said, I do so because it mentions the qualities of the Beneficent and I love to recite it (in my prayer). The Prophet; said (to them), Tell him that Allah loves him.
