حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَكْبَرُ ابْنُ آدَمَ ، وَيَكْبَرُ مَعَهُ اثْنَانِ : حُبُّ الْمَالِ ، وَطُولُ الْعُمُرِ ، رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ .

ہم سے مسلم بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ہشام بن عروہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے قتادہ نے بیان کیا اور ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”انسان کی عمر بڑھتی جاتی ہے اور اس کے ساتھ دو چیزیں اس کے اندر بڑھتی جاتی ہیں، مال کی محبت اور عمر کی درازی۔“ اس کی روایت شعبہ نے قتادہ سے کی ہے۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, The son of Adam (i.e. man) grows old and so also two (desires) grow old with him, i.e., love for wealth and (a wish for) a long life.

The sub-narrator added: Ibn `Umar used to say, If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.
